For Dr. J. Barry Boyd, his work as a plastic surgeon focuses on improving a patient’s quality of life. At Advanced Facial Cosmetic & Laser Surgery Center, Dr. Boyd provides surgical procedures that enhance a patient’s natural look. Dr. Boyd’s expertise, judgment and high-quality results drive his referral-based practice.
Raised in the Melbourne area, Dr. Boyd attended Duke University, where he earned a degree in mathematics. An interest in architecture and an aptitude in biology evolved into a career of medicine and plastic surgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Miami. Further training and residencies provided invaluable education at some of the nation’s top schools, including Harvard University and the University of Pittsburgh.
In 1983, Dr. Boyd developed Winter Park Plastic Surgery with a goal of providing a total care aesthetic health center. He is trained in both general surgery and plastic surgery and has a strong background in the areas of cosmetic surgery, wound healing research and reconstructive surgery.
Friendly and approachable, Dr. Boyd believes in a “total educational perspective for my patients. They should be comfortable with the process,” he says. Prospective clients are given a tour of the facility and operating room, discuss surgical needs and concerns with Dr. Boyd and meet with a nurse or patient coordinator to gather detailed information.
Dr. Boyd performs a variety of aesthetic surgery procedures. At Advanced Facial Cosmetic & Laser Surgery Center, in addition to facial procedures, he will be performing breast and body contour surgery including: breast augmentation, breast lift and reduction, tummy-tuck and liposuction. He also recognizes the value of non-surgical facial and skin care. “The synergy between surgery and new ancillary technologies offers patients broader new care options,” he says.
Dr. Boyd is board certified, a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and a member of both the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has worked and traveled with Operation Smile, a charity organization whose volunteers help repair childhood facial deformities.
When he is not helping patients achieve their aesthetic goals, you’re likely to find Dr. Boyd on (or knee-deep in) our local waters photographing flora and fauna.
