Liposuction

Liposuction (suction-assisted lipectomy) is a technique to remove localized collections of excess fat.  Fat deposits on hips, thighs, buttocks, and abdomen, as well as on arms, knees upper torso, neck, and under the chin, can be removed via liposuction.

A consultation is the first step an individual should take if considering liposuction.  Our surgeon will invite you to discuss candidly your expectations about looking and feeling better after the surgery, while keeping in mind that the desired result is improvement, not perfection.

Liposuction is not a substitute for weight reduction that can be attained through dieting and exercise, nor is it a cure for obesity.  It is a surgical technique suitable for carefully selected patients.

After examining you, our surgeon will discuss other variables that influence the decisions involved in the procedure, such as the location and amount of fat present, your age, and your general skin tone.  Patients with young, healthy and elastic skin who are of relatively normal weight with localized areas of fat are the best candidates for the liposuction procedure.  Our surgeon will also make you aware of the potential risks and specific complications of the liposuction procedure.
